John began his professional career at the age of fifteen, working as a weekend photographer for the local newspaper in Charlottetown, PEI. He continued to work in the field while pursuing formal training in order to develop the experience, skills and expertise needed to become a versatile, accomplished photographer. He opened the Imagemaker studio in 1989, and relocated to Vancouver in 1993.
John's many years of experience in the editorial, commercial and photojournalism fields have led to assignments from Alaska to Israel and many points in between. Imagemaker photos have appeared in print in 22 countries including China, Japan, the UK, USA, Canada, and Bali. John has been an accredited press photographer for three royal tours, and has photographed local and international musical acts and Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame inductees such as the legendary Joan Jett.
As a commercial photographer, John has worked with a large variety of products, ranging from furniture to artisanal works for advertising, catalogues, brochures, websites and display mediums. He is also well known for event coverage and onsite services small and large.
John's relaxed personality helps put his headshot clients at ease so they can show their best self. Be it actors or corporate executives, John's willingness to work together with the client is his secret to attaining the highest quality images. His adaptability to any situation and ability to work with people makes him a valuable asset to any project.
Over 40 years have passed since John got his first camera. Though the camera has changed (many times over!), his love of capturing memorable images is as strong as ever.
